SUBWAY® stores are individually owned and are operated by independent franchisees who pride themselves on being caring and active members of their communities.

Franchisees throughout the UK are committed to making a difference in the communities where they live and work. Many franchisees take part in community activities such as sponsoring local sports teams, working with schools on healthy eating and business projects, and engaging with the business community.


Partnership with Comic Relief

We have partnered with Comic Relief, a major charity in the UK.

Every two years they run a day of public fundraising events to raise money for UK and African projects, capturing the imagination of the whole country. We have been proud to be part of the fundraising events as well as the 400 mile bike ride organised by DA and franchisee Rachana Pancholi – the equivalent of Leicester to Paris -with Famous Fan Holly Bleasdale!

Supporting Louis Smith’s Gymnastics Holiday Camp

Iconic British Gymnast Louis Smith MBE launched his first Gymnastics Holiday Camp this year in August as part of his on-going commitment to create a sporting legacy.

sustainable_02The SUBWAY® brand was proud to support the camp, enabling SUBWAY® Famous Fan Louis to inspire a new generation of British gymnasts. Local franchisee Jim Martin and his team in Huntingdon provided a range of low fat Subs every day to help keep the kids fuelled!

In supporting the camp, the SUBWAY® brand demonstrated its commitment to encouraging people to adopt a healthier, more active lifestyle.


SUBWAY Helping Hearts Family 5K™

During 2013, the SUBWAY Helping Hearts™ Family 5K series took the UK by storm.

Taking place in six locations up and down the country, over 2,000 participants put on their trainers and got involved to help raise money for the Heart Research UK and SUBWAY® Healthy Heart Grant scheme.

Franchisees across the nation came out in force helping to communicate the SUBWAY® brand’s commitment of supporting consumers to live healthier lifestyles.

Design a Sub

We are also keen to promote entrepreneurial spirit and business skills amongst young people. Stores across the UK launched the ‘Design a Sub’ competition, which challenged students to design and market a new Sub. Attracting entrants from schools and colleges across the UK, the project provided an opportunity for students to gain hands-on business experience. The winning regional Sub designs were developed and sold for a limited time at local SUBWAY® stores.

The SUBWAY® brand is committed to making a difference in the community and we will continue to encourage and support our franchisees to make a difference and keep up their excellent work.
